Horse Country Magazine features VTP
Our thanks to J. Harris Anderson, Managing Editor at In & Around Horse Country, for featuring Virginia Thoroughbred Project in the Winter/Spring 2022 edition. Part of our mission is to educate the public about Thoroughbred racehorses’ lives and careers after they’ve left the track; this article certainly helps spread the word!
Article excerpt:
“Until recently,” Crystal explains, “all of our horses have been permanent sanctuary residents due to age, infirmity, and/or general physical limitations. Their average age is 21. We currently have a youngster that we’re retraining, a promising 4-year-old that last raced this past summer at Colonial Downs. He has a wonderful, fun-loving personality and is an overall gentle giant. We’re very excited to be working with him and hope to find the perfect second career for him. We will be taking on more retrainable horses as the need arises.”
